Meeting them was simple in theory, but difficult in practice. We planned to meet in Westminster, by Parliament and Big Ben, however, there was a large rally going on at the time, and Miranda and Kerry made the smart decision to move on to Trafalgar Square, a few blocks away.
Without internet, though, I got the memo a little later. Catching whiffs of internet signal when I could, I tracked them to Trafalgar, then, after looking for them for a while, the cold drove me inside a nearby Nero coffee shop to sip on a nice hot caramel latte.
Miranda and Kerry found me a few minutes later, breathless from hurrying across the square after they received my message. I, not knowing that they had seen it, had decided to station myself outside the cafe to watch for them.
Miranda and I met through the same LifeGroup at church back in Texas!
After Miranda and I hugged each other, Kerry and I were introduced, and some light, friendly chatter, we decided on our next course of action. None of us had been to Covent Garden Market, a huge indoor-outdoor shopping area in central London.
We explored for a while, poking our heads into shops and listening to talented street performers, when our growling stomachs forced us to set our minds on a more edible track. As it ended up, we went out for sushi Hi Sushi, at a nice nearby restaurant.
I took it upon myself to escort Miranda and Kerry back to their hostel so they could get ready for their early morning flight back to Spain, but on the way through Picadilly Circus (they were surprised to find that it was more like Times Square than the big top), we made a rather important discovery.
London's M&M World.
That's right, ladies and gents. Four floors of chocolaty goodness in all the colors of the rainbow, plus a few more. With the luscious scent of chocolate wafting from the doors, we knew that we were going in and spending some of the moolah in our pockets.
And I must say: getting our custom color bags of M&Ms was a worthy investment.
The night was full of laughter, discovery, and good friendship. I'm glad that I was able to reconnect with a couple of my sweet Baylor Bears so far from Waco, Texas.
Oh, and I'm going back to M&M world. Where there is chocolate, there a Maggie will be also.
